A new beta update is available for various Garmin smartwatches. Version 15.02 includes a range of bug fixes for the wearable, tackling issues with the flashlight and a problem which could cause the gadget to crash. The software is now available to download via the Garmin Forum.

Garmin has released Beta Version 15.02 for the Instinct 2, Instinct 2s, Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover smartwatches. The new software is the first in the 15.xx series for the wearable, with the previous update, version 14.12, pushed live in December.

Version 15.02 brings several bug fixes to all wearables, including tackling an issue which could occur while editing reps in a workout, causing the wrong page to load. Garmin has firmed up the training load calculator for the Store & Forward feature, which is available when used with HRM straps. Also resolved are problems with the location distances in the Reference Point app and Cross-country Ski activity, which could cause devices to crash.

For Instinct 2, 2s and 2X, the temperature icon has been updated, and missing characters on the Russian keyboard are now available. For the 2X and Crossover, an issue with distance tracking via GPS has been fixed, and for the Crossover only, a map drawing bug is resolved. Plus, for the 2X, battery life estimates while using the flashlight in battery-saver mode are now more accurate, and another issue with the torch has been addressed.

You can side-load the update by downloading the relevant software from the Garmin forum, where you can find instructions for the installation process. The 2X and Crossover folders also include new GPS firmware, which must be installed. If you want to join the beta program, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
