Garmin appears to be on the verge of adding to its current Forerunner product stack. For context, over a year has passed since the company introduced the Forerunner 265S, Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 965. However, various leaks suggest that Garmin is preparing to release the Forerunner 165, a successor to the Forerunner 55 and effectively a new segment within the Forerunner series.
In the meantime, Garmin has rolled out a new beta update for the Forerunner 965. Possibly the Forerunner 165's eventual launch software, Beta Version 18.20 contains three changelog lines that appear to address more than three issues. On the one hand, Garmin states that it has fixed potential issues that could affect optical heart rate performance in cold weather. On the other hand, the company reports that Beta Version 18.20 resolves 'various UI and system bugs' that would have been present in Beta Version 18.15.
Unfortunately, Garmin has not revealed what changes it has made in this regard. Additionally, the Forerunner 965's latest beta update features a fix for a bug that could cause a crash when swiping left to dismiss certain smart home notifications. Also, Garmin stresses that Beta Version 18.20 is a Release Candidate build. In other words, the update should soon reach all Forerunner 965 units, even those that have not been enrolled on the Beta Program. Please see Garmin's forum post for installation details.
