OnePlus Watch 2 could launch sooner than expected as company begins official teasers for new 'OnePlus flagship family' member
OnePlus has begun teasing the release of a new product, shortly after launching the OnePlus 12 globally (curr. $899.99 on Amazon - 512 GB storage). As various leaks suggested, OnePlus will soon turn its attention to its smartwatch portfolio, which currently consists of the OnePlus Watch and the Nord Watch. While these models were budget options running proprietary operating systems, it seems that the company's next model will be a higher-end affair running Wear OS.
For now, OnePlus has not revealed the name of its next smartwatch. Nonetheless, the company hints that 'it's about time' to present:
a new face in the OnePlus flagship family
Incidentally, the design shown in the photo above and short video below mirrors that which @OnLeaks detailed in November 2023. However, the so-called OnePlus Watch 2 has a digital crown where @OnLeaks implied a round hardware button would be. Ultimately, this would put the OnePlus Watch in line with other recent Wear OS smartwatches like the Pixel Watch 2, TicWatch Pro 5 and Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro, among others.
According to Max Jambor, OnePlus will present its 'flagship family' expansion on February 24. In other words, the OnePlus Watch 2 could arrive slightly earlier than expected, with previous rumours suggesting an initial showcase during MWC 2024, which runs between February 26 and February 29. Presumably, the OnePlus Watch 2 will be headed to this year's Barcelona-based conference though, possibly alongside the Xiaomi Watch 2.
