OnePlus Watch 2 to launch with Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 and updated styling

OnLeaks and MySmartPrice have partnered to deliver an initial look at the OnePlus Watch 2, a successor to OnePlus' inaugural smartwatch and one that it released in early 2021. Since then, the company has introduced various smartphones and earbuds, but only the Nord Watch in late 2022. Unfortunately, neither source have disclosed when OnePlus will release its third smartwatch, although MySmartPrice asserts it will still a real-time operating system, (RTOS) rather than Wear OS.

Nonetheless, the website claims that OnePlus has built the Watch 2 around the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1, a chipset that powers the likes of the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro and the Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5. For context, while Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 series over a year ago, it has decided against offering up any newer alternatives since. Additionally, the OnePlus Watch 2 is said to feature a 1.43-inch AMOLED display, up from 1.39-inches in the original OnePlus Watch.

Incidentally, this new display size matches the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro. The visual changes that OnePlus has made between the Watch and Watch 2 make the latter look more like a recent Xiaomi smartwatch too. For example, the OnePlus Watch 2 has more angular styling than its predecessor, which relies upon curved lines. Seemingly, the Watch 2 has two hardware buttons that jut out from its right-hand side but no digital crown or other input method. Other details like pricing remain unknown for now as well, including in which countries the OnePlus Watch 2 will be available.
