Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro: Xiaomi undercuts Galaxy Watch6 and Pixel Watch 2 competition with return to Wear OS
Xiaomi has finally returned to the Wear OS platform after a four-year absence. As expected, Xiaomi has released the Watch 2 Pro, a 46 mm smartwatch with a Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 chipset and a 1.43-inch AMOLED display. According to the company, the latter outputs at 466 x 466 pixels, which matches the Watch S2.
Additionally, the Watch 2 Pro has dual-band GNSS, comes pre-loaded with over 150 sports modes and has just 20 pre-installed watch faces. For reference, the latter is considerably less than Xiaomi tends to include in its smartwatches and fitness trackers, such as the Smart Band 8. With that said, you can download more through the Google Play Store, including those that have customised always-on display faces.
Moreover, Xiaomi has equipped the Watch 2 Pro with an NFC module for use with Google Wallet, plus various sensors for monitoring your heart rate, SpO2 levels and sleep quality, among other health metrics. The Watch 2 Pro is orderable in black and silver variants, both with optional LTE. The Watch 2 Pro starts at €269.99 with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Alternatively, the smartwatch is available with LTE and an e-SIM for €329.99. Thus, the Watch 2 Pro is one of the cheapest Wear OS smartwatches around, with Xiaomi pricing its smartwatch more aggressively than the Galaxy Watch6, TicWatch Pro 5 or the upcoming Pixel Watch 2.
