Google Pixel Watch 2 rumoured to feature tighter Fitbit integration and new skin temperature sensor
9to5Google continues to share details about the Pixel Watch 2, a name that Google confirmed earlier this month. As we discussed at the time, the company also published a short video of its second smartwatch, a screenshot of which we have embedded above. Additionally, Google confirmed that it will officially unveil the Pixel Watch 2 on October 4 alongside the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
According to 9to5Google, the Pixel Watch 2 adopts an EDA sensor that can determine stress levels. Potentially derived from the Fitbit Sense 2, the Pixel Watch 2 is also said to feature a skin temperature sensor that can monitor current skin temperature, unlike recent Apple Watch models. However, it remains to be seen whether the temperature sensor in the Pixel Watch 2 will be capable of synchronising with the equivalent in the Pixel 8 Pro.
Regardless, 9to5Google also alleges that Google will bring three new SOS features to its second-generation Pixel Watch, plus the option of showing key health data when a paired Pixel smartphone detects a car crash or a comparably heavy impact. 9to5Google adds that the Pixel Watch 2 will include a new UI for Fitbit workouts too, seemingly tying in with the Material You refresh of Fitbit's Android and iOS apps.
