Fitbit has begun teasing the release of a new device. So far, the company has only shared a six-second clip devoid of details, save for outlining a September 28 release date. Thus, Google has timed the release of a new Fitbit product for a week before the introduction of the Pixel Watch 2, plus the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.
With that being said, the teaser offers the briefest of glimpses at a wrist-worn device. As 9to5Google notes, the wearable resembles the Charge 5, which is over two years old at this point. Thus, it would appear that the device is ripe for replacement.
Seemingly, Fitbit only plans to offer one new fitness tracker later this month, leaving the Inspire 3, Sense 2 and Versa 4 around for a bit longer. Reportedly, the Charge 6 will feature tighter integration with Google services than previous Fitbit wearables, such as pre-installed Google Maps and YouTube Music apps. However, it remains to be seen how Fitbit has distinguished the Charge 6 from its predecessor in other areas.
Incidentally, while the company will not introduce said fitness tracker until next week, Google has already started rolling out a redesigned Fitbit mobile app. As Google announced last month, the Fitbit app has been given a Material You overhaul to its Android and iOS apps, as well as a new 'Today' tab and 'Coach' functionality' Please see Google's blog post for the full changes that it has made to the Fitbit app or the video below.
