Xiaomi has now confirmed its intentions to release a new smartwatch, with the Xiaomi 13T and Xiaomi 13T Pro already on the way. As expected, Xiaomi is preparing to introduce the Watch 2 Pro, a departure from its recent smartwatches in more ways than one. On the one hand, Xiaomi has moved from its Watch S series nomenclature, which it introduced less than two years ago with the Watch S1.
On the other hand, the Watch 2 Pro will be Xiaomi's first smartwatch in three years to run Wear OS. Arguably, the Watch 2 Pro looks more like the Watch S2 than the Mi Watch, Xiaomi's most recent Wear OS smartwatch. The Watch 2 Pro will directly challenge the Galaxy Watch6, Pixel Watch 2 and TicWatch Pro 5 too, in part because of a Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 chipset and 2 GB of RAM.
Xiaomi has not commented on a launch date or availability for the Watch 2 Pro yet. However, its Dutch, Emirati, Flemish, German and Spanish Twitter accounts have all started teasing the smartwatch. Thus, it can be inferred that Xiaomi will release the Watch 2 Pro in at least those markets. Purportedly, the smartwatch could start for under €250 too, details of which we have covered separately. A release date is unknown for now, too, although we would not be surprised if Xiaomi unveils the Watch 2 Pro alongside the Xiaomi 13T series on September 26.
