Xiaomi Redmi Buds 5: Budget earbuds look to impress with ANC, Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth Multipoint
Xiaomi has started selling the Redmi Buds 5, a new budget pair of TWS earbuds that rely upon a conventional design. With that being said, Xiaomi has paired the earbuds with a particularly flat and compact charging case. Seemingly, Xiaomi is promoting the Redmi Buds 5 as being particularly good value for money, in part thanks to the inclusion of active noise cancellation (ANC).
According to Xiaomi's product page, its ANC technology can attenuate ambient noise by up to 46 dB, for which it offers three levels of adjustment. Additionally, the company has included Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth Multipoint connectivity, although the latter must be activated in the Xiaomi Headphones app. Moreover, the Redmi Buds 5 supports a transparency mode, 12.4 mm drivers and batteries that are rated for up to 8 hours with ANC activated.
Currently, Xiaomi has only launched the Redmi Buds 5 in China. As the screenshot below shows, Xiaomi has priced the earbuds at CNY 199, which is equivalent to US$27 at current exchange rates. Unfortunately, the company has not commented on global availability yet.
