Garmin Forerunner 165: Forerunner 55 successor pictured as European pricing leaks
Last week, Fitness Tracker Test revealed initial details about a Forerunner 55 successor. In short, it was unclear whether the smartwatch would arrive as the Forerunner 65, a logical name for a follow-up, or the Forerunner 165. However, 91mobiles has now demonstrated that Garmin has settled for the latter name through a series of official images.
Thus, it seems that Garmin intends to market the Forerunner 55's successor as a close relative of the Forerunner 265 (curr. $449.99 on Amazon) that it announced last year. Predictably, the Forerunner 165 retains the Forerunner 265's overall design, including its five hardware buttons and plastic construction. Surprisingly, the Forerunner 165 appears to sit between the sizes of the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S, which support 22 mm and 18 mm quick-release watch bands, respectively.
In comparison, the Forerunner 165 will be compatible with 20 mm bands, which are rumoured to be joined by a 1.2-inch AMOLED display. Reportedly, the Forerunner 165 series will arrive in three colours with standard and Music variants. According to 91mobiles, the Forerunner 165 will retail for €279, €80 above the outgoing Forerunner 55's launch price. Meanwhile, the Forerunner 165 Music is said to cost €329 with 4 GB of built-in storage, €120 less than the Forerunner 265 and Forerunner 265S that ship with 'Music' functionality as standard. Unfortunately, launch details remain unknown for now.
