Apple releases iOS 17.3.1, iPadOS 17.3.1, watchOS 10.3.1, tvOS 17.3.1 and macOS 14.3.1
On Thursday, Apple released a whole slew of new updates: iOS 17.3.1, iPadOS 17.3.1, watchOS 10.3.1, tvOS 17.3.1 and macOS 14.3.1 are now available for download. The new updates come just after the launch of iOS 17.3, iPadOS 17.3, macOS Sonoma 14.3, watchOS 10.3 and tvOS 17.3.
As can be seen from the version numbers, these are all minor updates. According to the changelog, iOS 17.3.1 and iPadOS 17.3.1 only fix a minor bug: "Text may unexpectedly duplicate or overlap while typing." watchOS 10.3.1, tvOS 17.3.1 and macOS 14.3.1 are also merely correctional updates with minimal performance improvements and bug fixes.
The available updates can be downloaded directly in the usual way. In the case of an iPhone or iPad, this can be done via "Settings -> General -> Software updates". Sufficient battery power is required so that the device can load and install the update.
The new firmware versions iOS 17.3.1, iPadOS 17.3.1, watchOS 10.3.1, tvOS 17.3.1 and macOS 14.3.1 are more or less the calm before the storm. The major update to version 17.4 is expected soon for iOS and iPadOS. With this update, Apple will introduce a number of new features and respond to EU regulations, among other things. This means that iOS 17.4, which is expected from March, must allow apps to be downloaded outside of the App Store. Apple has made it very clear that it is not very enthusiastic about this.
