Philips 2024 4K Ambilight TVs appear with new Titan OS
Philips has listed more Ambilight TVs in its 2024 range on its various European websites. There are five models in the range, which can be roughly grouped as follows: the PUS8309/PUS8319 is offered in five sizes from 43-in to 75-in, while the PUS8349/PUS8359 and the PUS8389 are each available in four sizes from 43-in to 65-in.
The display used across these 2024 Ambilight TVs is the same, with a direct LED backlight, a 4K resolution and variable refresh rate between 24 and 60Hz. Other features include support for HDR10+ and the 3-sided LED Ambilight, with tools like AmbiSleep and Sunrise Alarm. The TVs run on the new Titan OS, with apps for popular streaming services like Netflix and HBO. There is ALLM and HDMI VRR gaming, with HDMI 2.1 eARC and HDMI ARC ports. Wireless connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi, with screen mirroring and voice control options. Plus, the device has two built-in 10W speakers compatible with various Dolby and DTS:X technologies.
One difference between the models is the frame design, with "anthracite grey sticks" used for the 8389 and a black arch stand of varying width for the other four devices. It has also been suggested that the products' cable clips and VESA wall mounting systems differ. Plus, while the 8309 and 8349 have a 2.0W networked standby mode, the 8319 and 8359 are more energy efficient, consuming under 0.3W. It remains to be seen when the Philips 2024 Ambilight PUS8309, PUS8319, PUS8349, PUS8359, and PUS8389 TVs will go on sale and at what price.
