Philips Hue Widgets for iOS rumored as new app update released
Widgets for the Philips Hue app for iPhones could soon become available again. The feature was discontinued several years ago. Now, with various improvements from iOS 17, it looks like Signify is considering reviving them. The report comes from Hueblog.com, which does not provide details on its source.
Rumors indicate that Signify was waiting for enhanced features before it brought back its widgets. These are said to include the ability to add widgets to the iPhone’s Home Screen and the Today View, and interactivity to allow you to adjust a device without opening the accompanying app. It has been suggested that the widgets could also be accessible on the Lock Screen and in StandBy mode. Further details, like precisely what settings you will be able to adjust via the new widgets, have yet to be confirmed.
The latest app update, version 5.11.0, arrived in late February. This was a relatively minor release, adding the new Philips Hue Dymera wall light, suitable for use indoors or outdoors. The lamp contains two lights which can be controlled individually, with the in-app light card split in two to represent the separate light sources. Precisely when Signify will release an update to bring these rumored new widgets to the iPhone has yet to be revealed. In the meantime, customers could try using the third-party Hue Widgets app.
