A new Eve Energy smart plug has leaked via the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) website. The product appears designed for outdoor use, given what looks like a black protective flap on top of the white body. Eve already sells an Energy Smart Plug, though this is designed for indoor use.
The latest Eve Energy plug will allow you to remotely control connected devices like lights or a lawn sprinkler using voice commands or an app. Another app feature listed on the CSA product page is the ability to view energy consumption. The new model will be Thread and Matter-compatible, as with the other products in the brand’s smart home portfolio. This will enable integration with various smart home ecosystems like Apple Home, Google Home and Amazon Alexa.
Presumably, the outdoor model will also support other Eve App features like scheduling and a child lock tool, which are available for the indoor smart plug; it is worth noting that the Eve app is currently only available for iOS, though Matter allows you to control Eve products from Android devices. Further details, such as size and the IP weatherproof rating, have yet to be announced. When the new Eve Energy outdoor smart plug could launch and at what price also remains unclear. For context, the Eve Energy smart plug for indoor use retails for $39.95.
