Eve announces new Energy Outdoor smart outlet and power meter
The Eve Energy Outdoor smart outlet has been officially unveiled. The smart home gadget was first spotted on the Connectivity Standards Alliance's (CSA) website. The device lets you switch on your outdoor lights or appliances remotely or at a specific time.
The Eve smart outdoor socket can be controlled via the Eve app, which is currently only available for iOS. Here, you can set up a schedule and link it with other devices from the brand for triggers or scenes. Another remote control option is voice commands, with support for assistants like Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant. Plus, you can manually switch off the device using the built-in button. The outlet uses Matter-over-Thread, allowing you to integrate the gadget with a wide range of smart home ecosystems.
A key feature of the device is the ability to measure power consumption, helping you to reduce energy costs. However, the power meter's data can only be viewed when the gadget's control center is Apple Home or Samsung SmartThings. With a black and metallic gray finish, the product measures 83 x 83 x 67 mm (~3.3 x 3.3 x 2.6-in) and is rated as IP44 dust and waterproof. The Eve Energy Outdoor smart socket will go on sale this May; the pricing of the product remains unknown.
