IKEA has released a new update, version 1.27.1, for its iOS app. The latest software brings Matter support for the DIRIGERA hub, a tool which the company began beta testing earlier this year. Also included in the update is a preset lighting feature to automatically adjust brightness over time.

The IKEA Home smart app for iOS has been updated to version 1.27.1, bringing Matter bridge support to a broader audience. Beta testing of the feature was announced earlier this year, with a select few customers invited to the scheme. Now, all app users can access the tool via The Workshop.

The Matter bridge support applies to the DIRIGERA hub, not the TRADFRI gateway, and is currently only available for smart lights. The feature lets customers integrate Zigbee gadgets from other brands, like the Philips Hue Smart 75W A19 LED Bulb, into their IKEA smart home ecosystem. The company has indicated that it is seeking customer feedback on the tool in this next testing phase and plans to roll out the feature to other types of smart home gadgets in the future.

Also included in the app update are presets for smart lights that intelligently adjust the lighting based on the time of day. For example, a wake-up setting would gradually increase the brightness of the lights over the course of half an hour. You can access these lighting presets in The Workshop, found at the bottom of the System settings page. It is unclear when this update will be rolled out to the Android version of the IKEA Home smart app.
