Philips Hue smart ceiling light launches in new colors
The Philips Hue Being ceiling light is now available in two new black and white versions in the US. Previously, the device was available with an aluminum finish; other than the different colors, all models are identical. The launch was announced earlier this year, and the products are already available in Europe.
The Being ceiling light provides dimmable white lighting with up to 2,350 lm brightness. There are 50,000 shades on offer, ranging from a warmer 2,200K color temperature to cooler tones around 6,500K. The LED light source is expected to last for around 25,000 hours. Light is diffused with a central shade and bands on the sides, which should result in a halo effect on your ceiling. Philips Hue suggests that this makes the smart light suitable for various rooms in your home, such as a bedroom or hallway. As with other products from the brand, you can control the Being directly via Bluetooth, connecting it to other smart home gadgets, or use a Hue Bridge for more features.
The Philips Hue app, recently updated to version 5.13.0, allows you to control lights simultaneously. The device is also compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Home. The light measures 2 x 13.7 x 13.7-in (~51 x 348 x 348 mm) and is made of metal and plastic. The new Philips Hue Being ceiling lights in white and black are now available in the US for $219.99, the same price as the original aluminum variant. Customers in Europe can buy the products for £179.99/€199.99.
