Philips Hue update brings new features to smart lights

A new Prism effect provides a sequence moving through the colors of the rainbow. You can find the preset under the effects icon on the card for your chosen smart light or group. Customers are also offered new scenes under the energy-saving category in the scene gallery. Plus, Tap switch accessories like the Hue Tap dial switch and Hue Tap Switch Mini have been upgraded. Users can now access various smart features, like time-based lighting and scene cycle mode. Plus, the Natural light scene is now an option for the switches, automatically adjusting the color and brightness of your lighting to match the time of day. These tools were added to the wall switch modules in an update earlier this year and are also rumored to be on the way for Friends of Hue switches.

Another feature spotted by Hueblog.com makes it easier to edit a scene from the color-picking screen. A new Save button has been added at the top left of the page, allowing you to create a new scene or update an existing one with your chosen color. You can download the Philips Hue app version 5.13.0 from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store to access these new features.
