The Google Pixel 8a has turned up in a new set of leaks. Not only has Google's next mid-range smartphone appeared in four FCC listings, but various specifications have also been published courtesy of a reliable leaker of all things Google Pixel-related.

The release of the Pixel 8a is still likely over a month away, with Google having scheduled this year's I/O conference for May 14. Nonetheless, more information about the Pixel 7a (curr. $374 on Amazon) successor has now appeared online from various sources. On the one hand, the Pixel 8a has surfaced on the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) database associated with four model numbers.

As shown in the screenshots below, the FCC has certified G576D, G6GPR, G8HHN, and GKV4X for sale in the US. While the FCC does not explicitly mention the Pixel 8a by name, G6GPR was spotted earlier this year on leaked retail packaging as a Pixel 8a model number. According to the information contained within each FCC listing, G576D, G6GPR, G8HHN and GKV4X are all variants of each other.

In other words, none relate to the Pixel 9Pixel 9 Pro or Pixel Fold 2, which are due to launch later this year. Based on previous Pixel smartphone releases, G576D, G6GPR, G8HHN and GKV4X probably offer different connectivity standards, such as sub 6 GHz and mmWave 5G. On the other hand, Kamila Wojciechowska has revealed numerous Pixel 8a specifications that cannot currently be seen in any of the FFC's four listings. Reportedly, the Pixel 8a will land with the same cameras as the Pixel 7a, which Google equipped with 64 MP (IMX787) primary, 13 MP (IMX712) ultra-wide-angle and 13 MP (IMX712) front-facing sensors.

The Pixel 8a is also expected to retain its predecessor's 6.1-inch display size, which will continue to output at 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. However, Google is rumoured to have increased its refresh rate and peak brightness to 120 Hz and 1,400 nits, respectively. Moreover, the Pixel 8a will feature a Tensor G3 chipset, plus DisplayPort Alt Mode support through its USB Type-C port. For reference, an earlier leak suggested that the Pixel 8a will be available for €569.90 with 128 GB of storage or €629.90 if you opt for a new 256 GB of storage variant.
