Google Pixel 8a shows itself with large display bezels in new pre-release photos
TechDroider has shared hands-on photos of what is likely a retail Pixel 8a unit. For reference, early pictures of the same device surfaced in late September 2023 courtesy of @yabhishekhd. Additionally, retail packaging leaked online, the model number for which was subsequently confirmed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US.
Most recently, it seemed that Google itself revealed the Pixel 8a in two colours, details of which we have covered separately. However, previous leaks have not shown the state of the device's display bezels. Surprisingly, the Pixel 8a has comparatively thick bezels and uneven ones at that. As such, Google's next mid-range handset may look rather outdated at launch, despite its rumoured specifications.
Reportedly, the Pixel 8a will debut on May 14 with a 120 Hz display and a Tensor G3 chipset. Moreover, the handset is expected to carry over its predecessor's cameras, including its 64 MP primary (1/1.73-inch) and 13 MP ultra-wide-angle sensors. Based on earlier rumours, the Pixel 8a will feature a 4,500 mAh battery that supports 27 W wired charging too, albeit for a €569.90 starting price.
