Alleged Google Pixel 8a pricing leak affirms rumors of a price hike
Google's mid-range smartphone for the year, the Pixel 8a, is all but confirmed to debut at the company's I/O event next month. Details of the 8a have leaked recently, including its colorways, and a new leak now reveals how much it will cost.
As shared by PassionateGeekz, the Pixel 8a appears to have been listed at an unspecified Canadian retail store with price tags higher than the Pixel 7a was at launch. Supposedly, the 128 GB SKU will set buyers back CA$708.99, with the 256 GB model listed much higher at CS$792.99.
Both of those numbers represent significant price jumps compared to last year's Pixel 7a, which launched with a CA$599 RRP for the 128 GB model. There's also the obvious issue of the Pixel 8a being priced into redundancy, with Google already selling the superior Pixel 8 (buy on Amazon US) at CA$699 on its Canadian store.
It's unknown how the Pixel 8A will be priced in the US and other markets, as the Pixel 7a already launched with a US$50 price increase versus the Pixel 6a, at US$499. Another US$50 price bump wouldn't be unexpected at this point, sadly.
