Google has now entered the launch month for the Pixel 8a, its final Pixel 8 release, before introducing up to four Pixel 9 smartphones this autumn. Reportedly, the Pixel 8a will cost even more than previously expected in Europe, unlike in North America. Google is said to be sweetening the deal with early launch discounts, though.

Just yesterday, @OnLeaks revealed alleged US pricing for the Pixel 8a, Google's next mid-range smartphone. Additionally, the same leaker published official-looking promotional renders in collaboration with SmartPrix. Subsequently, @billbil_kun has provided equivalent details for the Eurozone, as well as Google's supposed launch offers.

To recap, Roland Quandt reported in February that Google would release the Pixel 8a for €569.90 in the Eurozone, or €629 for the device's reputed 256 GB of storage option. According to @billbil_kun, Google has since changed these prices for €599 and €659, with the former featuring 128 GB of storage. In other words, the Pixel 8a could retail for at least €90 more than the Pixel 7a (curr. $349 on Amazon).

However, Google has now dropped the Pixel 7a to €449, effectively making the Pixel 8a a minimum of €150 more expensive as a result. Unsurprisingly, it seems that Google will be offering the Pixel 8a at a modest €50 launch discount, which reduces the 128 GB and 256 GB versions to €549 and €609. On top of that, @billbil_kun claims that Google will also include complimentary Fitbit Premium, Google One Premium (100 GB) and YouTube Premium subscriptions, but only for six months, three months and three months, respectively.

Incidentally, @billbil_kun asserts that Google only intends to sell the Pixel 8a with 256 GB of storage in a Volcanic Black finish despite creating beige, blue and green colour options, too. The same leaker adds that Google plans to release official silicone cases simultaneously in beige, black, blue, green and red finishes, all for €34.99. The Pixel 8a is due to arrive on May 14, possibly alongside a refreshed Pixel Tablet that will be available with new stylus and keyboard accessories.
