Vivo announces new mid-range smartphone with 5G Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and huge battery
Vivo has introduced yet another mid-range smartphone, having recently presented the V40 SE and V30 SE. This time, it has listed the Y38 5G on its website, albeit only in Taiwan so far. For reference, the Y38 5G utilises the same Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset as the V40 SE, which is available in the Eurozone for as little as €279.
Unfortunately, Vivo has not confirmed Y38 5G pricing yet. Nonetheless, it has confirmed all key device specifications, including the presence of a large IPS display that measures 6.68-inches across. Additionally, the same display outputs at 720p (1,612 x 720 pixels) with a 120 Hz refresh rate, 1,000 nits peak brightness and a mere 83% NTSC colour space coverage.
Meanwhile, the device supports its Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset with a 6,000 mAh battery that it can recharge at 44 W, as well as 50 MP primary, 2 MP auxiliar and 8 MP front-facing cameras. Furthermore, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 provides Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 5 connectivity, which Vivo has complemented with a dual SIM card slot and NFC. Seemingly, the Y38 5G will only be available with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, upon which it has installed the Android 14-derived Funtouch OS 14. Please note that the latter will be expandable by a microSD card. Please see Vivo's website for more details.
