Leaks reveal complete Google Pixel 8a product listing with lower pricing and earlier launch date also mooted

In recent years, Google has used its annual I/O conference to introduce new Pixel A series smartphones. Starting with the Pixel 6a and continuing with last year's Pixel 7a (curr. $349 on Amazon), recent I/O conferences have also hosted other Pixel product releases, as well as new Android and Wear OS version showcases. Thus, it had been assumed that the Pixel 8a would follow suit by debuting during I/O 2024, which occurs on May 14 this year.

However, @billbil_kun now asserts that this will not be the case. Instead, the typically reliable leaker claims that Google plans to open pre-orders on May 7, likely after it unveils the device through a press release or blog post. With that being said, the same leaker adds that the Pixel 8a will begin shipping on May 14, presumably to coincide with I/O 2024.

Moreover, @billbil_kun reports that the Pixel 8a will actually start at €549 with 128 GB of storage, having suggested that this would be introductory pricing. Likewise, the device's 256 GB memory option is said to retail for €609. In other words, while the Pixel 8a is expected to cost as much as its predecessor in North America, it will start at €40 more in the Eurozone.

Meanwhile, Evan Blass has shared what appears to be a full Pixel 8a product listing pulled from the Google Store, which we have embedded below. Ultimately, there are few surprises here, as many specifications and even some of those promotional images have been published before. Thus, the product listing demonstrates that the Pixel 8a will be available in four colours with the Tensor G3 chipset from the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. The reference to the device receiving '7 years of Feature Drops' is new though, with seven years of guaranteed security updates already being known.
