Google Pixel 8a slated to become Bluetooth-certified device in latest leak
The last remaining variant of the Pixel 8 series of Android 14 smartphones is also thought to be the last to rock Google's current visor-like camera hump. It is also now thought to launch as a fully-certified Bluetooth 5.3 device.
The Mountain View giant's latest Bluetooth Qualification Process is incomplete at the time of writing, with the product in question to remain unnamed until it passes all the tests. However, the preliminary certification gives the game away, as its already specifies 4 different model numbers for the same device.
The numbers in question (G8HHN, GKV4X, G6GPR, and G576D) are identical to those spotted in FCC documentation also thought to pertain to the Pixel 8a, with each one possibly relating to its mode of 5G connectivity or storage.
Should that be the case, the 8a has all but been approved to use the same Bluetooth standard as the 8 and 8 Pro, and may thus indeed be on track for a May 2024 launch on the Google I/O stage. Meanwhile, the Pixel 7a's top-end 128GB SKU has been given a 25% discount off its original $499.99 price on Amazon.
