New Google Pixel 9 smartphone revealed as evidence of triple flagship release mounts
@OnLeaks and 91mobiles have teamed up to deliver yet more renders relating to an unreleased Pixel smartphone. Previously, the pair had published renders of what they believed to be the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. However, they now assert that there will be a third Pixel 9 series member that will slot in between the previously presumed Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro.
Allegedly, these devices will actually arrive as the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, respectively. By contrast, the device pictured below is rumoured to be the regular Pixel 9. As a result, it only has two rear-facing cameras like the Pixel 8 (curr. $499 on Amazon). Incidentally, these predictions tally with those made by Android Authority a few months ago. In summary, the website claimed that Google had developed three Pixel 9 series smartphones with ‘caiman’ and ‘komodo’ codenames assigned to the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL, respectively.
@OnLeaks also expects there to be a few design changes from the Pixel 8 to the Pixel 9. On the one hand, the latter will feature a housing that grows from 150.5 x 70.8 x 8.9 mm to 152.8 x 71.9 x 8.5 mm. On the other hand, the Pixel 9 has a large pill-shaped camera housing that fails to wrap around its frame like its predecessor. The Pixel 9 is anticipated to arrive alongside the Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro X, Pixel Fold 2 and Pixel Watch 3 in the autumn. In the meantime, Google is preparing to release the Pixel 8a, leaked specifications and pricing for which we have recently covered separately.
