Google's next foldable smartphone shown in new leaked renders
@OnLeaks has partnered with SmartPrix again to share another round of CAD-based render images of a forthcoming smartphone. For context, the pair delivered images of the Phone (2a), which arrived at roughly the same time as when Nothing confirmed the handset's Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus 5G rivalling chipset. This time, @OnLeaks has turned his attention to the Pixel Fold 2, which will look drastically different from the current Pixel Fold that Google sells.
It is worth noting that @OnLeaks' renders build on an earlier Pixel Fold 2 leak by Android Authority rather than providing a first look at Google's next-generation foldable. According to the former, the Pixel Fold 2 measures 155.2 x 77.1 x 10.54 mm when unfolded. Thus, the Pixel Fold 2 is said to be about as tall as the Honor Magic V2 but wider than all but the Pixel Fold of recent flagship foldables. Additionally, these dimensions would make the Pixel Fold 2 thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold5 and OnePlus Open but about 0.5 mm thicker than the Magic V2.
Ultimately, the Pixel Fold 2 looks more like the OnePlus Open than its direct predecessor. Nonetheless, @OnLeaks expects the former to arrive with an under-panel internal camera, mirroring the Galaxy Z Fold5. Based on earlier leaks, Google is developing its second-generation foldable with 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. Currently, the handset is thought to be arriving with a Tensor G4 chipset, thereby likely seeing it line up alongside Google's other flagship handsets during an autumn hardware launch event.
