Samsung Galaxy A55 pictured with Key Island and familiar design in latest pre-release leak
Samsung has not officially confirmed the release of any new Galaxy A series smartphones yet. Nonetheless, Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) has got his hands on photos showing the Galaxy A55, nearly a month before the Galaxy A54's first birthday. For reference, the Galaxy A55 is expected to launch eventually alongside the Galaxy A35, although there has been evidence that a Galaxy C55 is in development, too.
Based on Sharma's recent tweet, his photos are of retail units. Either way, the design shown matches recent Galaxy A smartphones, which is to say that the Galaxy A55 also looks like the Galaxy S24 (curr. $860 on Amazon) from the back. However, the colour options that Samsung has evidently chosen for the former, white, light blue and dark blue in this case, help separate it from Samsung's current compact flagship.
The company's 'Key Island' helps visually distinguish the Galaxy A55 from the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy S24, albeit with little practical impact when using the device. Meanwhile, Samsung is rumoured to equip the Galaxy A55 with an Exynos 1480 chipset, as well as up to 12 GB of RAM. Allegedly, 50 MP, 12 MP and 5 MP cameras will adorn its rear side, with a 32 MP sensor handling selfies. An unchanged 5,000 mAh battery with support for 25 W wired charging should also be present, a staple of modern Galaxy A series smartphones.
