9to5Google has shed new light on the state of Google's third-generation smartwatch. To recap, over a month has passed since the website last revealed details about Google's next smartwatch, which it claimed would launch as the Pixel Watch 3. Supposedly, the 41 mm size in which the Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2 (curr. $349.99 on Amazon) are available would be joined by a second model.
Despite implying that Google had developed a larger size for its third Pixel Watch release, it did not actually reveal a specific case diameter. Instead, it claimed that it had not been informed how Google would distinguish two Pixel Watch 3 models, hardware or visual-wise, 'beyond the screen and maybe a slightly larger battery'. Now, the same website has provided details about the former but not the latter.
Specifically, Google is said to be developing the Pixel Watch 3 in 41 mm and 45 mm variants. In other words, the Pixel Watch 3 series would be larger on all accounts than the Galaxy Watch6 but smaller than the Galaxy Watch6 Classic. By contrast, the larger Pixel Watch 3 would be about as large as the larger Apple Watch Series 9, which also has a 45 mm case diameter.
Reportedly, the Pixel Watch 3 will be joined by a new pair of Pixel Buds Pro earbuds, currently dubbed 'Pixel Buds Pro 2'. 9to5Google has not released any information about these earbuds yet, though. Either way, it would seem likely that the Pixel Buds Pro 2 will join the Pixel Watch 3 during Google's autumn hardware event, where it will also launch the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel Fold 2 running its Tensor G4 chipset.
