Samsung Galaxy Watch6 receives new update with unexpected feature
Samsung has released an update for the Galaxy Watch6, which is currently being rolled out in the Republic of Korea. The latest software provides relatively minor improvements to four versions of the wearable, with a new feature leaving some customers confused.
The update has a new Health View support tool, allowing you to view exercise data on a connected Samsung TV, monitor, projector or other lifestyle products. According to the change log, this feature is only available on smart home devices from the 2024 range, and the gadget must be linked to the same account as the smartwatch. It is unclear why Samsung has chosen to develop this feature. Several users have taken to Reddit to voice their continued frustration that they still cannot view health data in a browser, which some suggest could have been a more logical next step. Unfortunately, Samsung has not indicated any plans for this feature.
Also included in the update is the latest Touch Screen Panel (TSP) firmware and the March 2024 security patch. The new software was spotted by SamLover, suggesting that the version numbers were as follows:
- Samsung Galaxy Watch6 40mm - R930TBU1AXB7
- Samsung Galaxy Watch6 44mm - R940XXU1AXB7
- Samsung Galaxy Classic Watch6 43mm - R950XXU1AXB7
- Samsung Galaxy Classic Watch6 47mm - R960XXU1AXB7
It is thought that the four LTE models will receive the update in the near future. However, it is unclear when the latest update for the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 could roll out in other regions like North America and Europe.
