First signs of Xiaomi Smart Band 9 leak with two model variants revealed
The first signs of the new Xiaomi fitness tracker have surfaced online. To recap, the company presented the Smart Band 8 (curr. $43.99 on Amazon) almost eleven months ago alongside the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and its first Pad 6 series tablets. However, it took until the end of September before Xiaomi released the Smart Band 8 globally. Incidentally, the fitness tracker arrived during the same global launch event as the Xiaomi 13T series, successors to which are also seemingly in the works.
As for Xiaomi's next fitness tracker, it appears that it could be unveiled first in China, too. According to various outlets, Xiaomi intends to offer up a Smart Band 8 successor as the Smart Band 9. With that being said, we cannot find any evidence to suggest that this name has leaked yet. Instead, the likes of IT Home have shared screenshots of recent State Radio Regulation of China (SRRC) certifications in which two unreleased model numbers can be seen.
Specifically, Xiaomi has submitted M2345B1 and M2346B1 to the Chinese radio regulation authority, the approval of which is necessary before a device like a fitness tracker could be released in China. Based on previous Smart Band launches, M2345B1 and M2346B1 likely relate to the same model but with slightly different features. If the Smart Band 8 is anything to go by, then the Smart Band 9 will debut in early spring with NFC and non-NFC variants. Unfortunately, other details remain unknown for now, including how Xiaomi will distinguish the Smart Band 9 from its predecessor.
