Garmin releases new public update for recent smartwatches
Garmin has released a public update for the Garmin Venu 3 and Venu 3s smartwatches. Firmware v9.24 follows a beta version of the software shared with Beta program members in February. It contains various new features and bug fixes for the wearables, launched in 2023.
Firmware version 9.24 adds a jump rope activity to the Venu 3 series smartwatches and support for male audio prompts, with corresponding audio files provided in the download. A bug that caused music to start playing randomly and a problem with the Golf activity set-up that could lead to scoring being switched off have both been resolved. Garmin has also tackled a battery drain issue when wrist heart rate measurements were turned off. Additional update files come in the form of Male Audio Prompts version 1.67, Translated Workouts version 1.12, Icon Animations version 1.05 and GCM Translations version 2.14.
In the changelog for the equivalent beta update, Garmin noted that the ECG functionality was available once more with this update, having been disabled in earlier iterations of the firmware. If you own a Garmin Venu 3 Series smartwatch, you can download the latest update from Garmin Express or Garmin Connect Mobile. The software should be available to all users, with the company confirming that the rollout was completed on March 5th.
