Garmin rolls out another beta update for popular smartwatches
Garmin is rolling out Beta Version 15.03 software for the Instinct 2, Instinct 2s, Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover smartwatches. The update is relatively small compared to other recent releases for smartwatches like the Forerunner 955 and focuses on winter sports.
The changelog notes that the latest software contains a range of bug fixes and improvements for two activities: Skiing and Snowboarding. Unfortunately, Garmin has not provided details on precisely what issues have been resolved or where optimizations have been made. The update also includes new GPS firmware for the Instinct 2X and Instinct Crossover wearables with version 8.07; the other Instinct 2 series watches remain on version 6.70.
This is the second update in the 15.xx beta cycle, following Beta Version 15.02, released in February. The older software also provided various bug fixes, tackling issues like the wrong page loading during a workout and a problem with the training load calculation. The software is currently only available via the side load method, with files downloadable from the Garmin forum. An OTA version of the update may follow in the coming days, as was the case for v15.02. If you own a Garmin Instinct 2 series smartwatch and wish to join the beta program, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
