Garmin brings CIQ System 7 support and other improvements to older mid-range smartwatch with new update
The Venu 2 series has become something of an outsider when it comes to receiving software updates. While Garmin regularly brings new features and bug fixes to older models like the Fenix 6 series, the same is not true for the Venu 2, Venu 2S or Venu 2 Plus. Instead, the trio have been left running Beta 17.04 since mid-November 2023.
Now, Garmin is rolling out Beta 18.02, an update that should have reached 20% of eligible smartwatches at the time of writing. Unlike recent updates for the Venu 3 series that must be downloaded manually, Beta 18.02 will be delivered automatically for Venu 2 smartwatches through the Garmin Connect Mobile (GCM) service. Please note that GCM refreshes every 24 hours and will pull an update from Garmin's servers immediately.
Additionally, Garmin warns that it could take 'several hours for the update to finish transferring and be available on your watch to install. With that being said, it is still possible to begin downloading Beta 18.02 manually by heading to the Main Menu, then Settings, System and finally Software Update. Arguably, the new update makes minimal changes though, with Garmin listing CIQ System 7 support, plus various undisclosed bug fixes and improvements. Please see Garmin's forum post for more information.
