MWC 2024 | Xiaomi Watch 2: New smartwatch debuts in Europe and UK for cheaper than expected launch pricing
Xiaomi has presented various products today at MWC 2024, including the Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Pad 6S Pro 12.4. Additionally, the company has introduced the Watch 2, which is also the only device that is making its debut. By contrast, the Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Pad 6S Pro 12.4 and the Watch S3 have all been previously shown in China over the last few months.
As numerous leaks suggested, the Watch 2 combines a Snapdragon W5 Plus Gen 1 chipset with a 495 mAh battery and a 1.43-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 466 x 466 pixels. Unfortunately, the Watch 2 runs Wear OS 3 builds rather than Wear OS 4, which underpins most other Wear OS smartwatches released since late summer 2023. Moreover, Xiaomi has not confirmed when the Watch 2 will receive Wear OS 4, which also applies to the Watch 2 Pro that we recently reviewed.
Elsewhere, the Watch 2 offers dual-band GNSS connectivity (L1+L5) and a 12-channel heart rate sensor, all sat within an aluminium housing that weighs 37 g. The Watch 2 comes in silver and black finishes, both with 46 mm case sizes. At launch, the smartwatch is available for €169.99 across the Eurozone and £149.99 in the UK. However, the Watch 2 will rise to €199.99 and £169.99, respectively, on March 3. Please see Xiaomi's website for more details.
