OnePlus’s first smartwatch wasn’t quite the flagship wearable many of us hoped it to be. Part of it has to do with the fact that the watch ran on a proprietary OS. Well, after about three years, the brand has launched its successor, the OnePlus Watch 2, and this time, it’s positioning itself as a true flagship with Wear OS.

The first OnePlus smartwatch was launched about three years ago. While it was a solid offering, the wearable didn’t exactly have what it took to compete with other flagship Android smartwatches of its time. It seems the brand finally has a proper contender to the Samsung Galaxy Watch (40 mm Galaxy Watch 6 curr. $249.99 on Amazon) series and Google Pixel Watch (Pixel Watch 2 curr. $299.99 on Amazon) line: the OnePlus Watch 2 with Wear OS.

It’s the first Wear OS wearable from OnePlus, and it’s packed with features. Starting with the design, the Watch 2 has a classy yet tough build. Available in two colorways, the Android smartwatch comes with 2.5D Sapphire Crystal glass, which the brand says has a rating of over 8 on the Mohs hardness scale.

But what really gives the OnePlus Watch 2 a premium outlook is the stainless steel body, which is also known for being more durable than aluminum. To further enhance the users’ peace of mind, OnePlus assures that the smartwatch meets the IP68, 5 ATM water resistance, and US MIL-STD-810H standards.

Under the hood, the Watch 2 has what the brand calls a dual-engine architecture. It’s basically a fancy way of saying that there are two SoCs. One is the BES2700 efficiency chip and Snapdragon W5 processor. OnePlus says that this “unique” architecture allows the smartwatch to offer an industry-leading battery life rating of 100 hours in Smart Mode. In Power Saver Mode, the advertised runtime jumps to up to 12 days.

Software-wise, the OnePlus Watch 2 runs on the latest Wear OS 4. It brings support for apps such as Google Wallet, Google Maps, and more via the Google Play app store. For meeting fitness and health monitoring needs, the wearable has OHealth, which is a comprehensive fitness and wellness companion from the brand.

Other highlights include dual-frequency GPS (L1 and L5) for accurate location tracking, a wide range of sensors for precise health monitoring, 100+ sports modes, 32 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM, and VOOC Fast Charging. As for the pricing, the Android smartwatch costs EUR329 (around $356). You can learn more about the OnePlus Watch 2 from the complete spec sheet attached below.
