Honor has announced that it is working on a smart ring. Plans for the wearable were revealed in an interview with CEO George Zhao by CNBC held during MWC 2024. The news comes shortly after a prototype of the Samsung Galaxy Ring was unveiled at the conference.
The Honor smart ring, which does not have an official name yet, would be the first device of its kind from the former Huawei subsidiary, which already offers smartwatches like the new Honor Choice Watch and the older Honor MagicWatch 2. Few details about the company’s smart ring have been disclosed. Zhao said to CNBC, “Internally, we have this kind of solution, now we are working on that part, so in the future you can have the Honor ring.”
The CEO confirmed that it would have health-tracking features; presumably, the Honor ring would connect to the Honor Health app like the smartwatches. In the interview, Zhao also mentioned artificial intelligence, saying “This hardware capability will work together with AI-enabled apps (and) can help you make the professional training course tailored for you because they studied your habits and health data to give you professional suggestions”. It is unclear whether this comment was made specifically about the upcoming ring or whether it covered Honor wearables more generally. It remains to be seen when the Honor ring could go on sale.
