In the footsteps of Oura, Samsung and the like: Polar may also develop a smart ring or act as a supplier
Polar is known for it smartwatches, which are aimed at athletes who not only want to have precise measurements of their performance done during individual training sessions, but also want to be informed about how their bodies are coping overall. The company places great emphasis on precise measurement with the help of powerful sensors.
TechRadar recently conducted an interview with Polar CEO Sander Werring in which he talked about various aspects of his own company in detail. 'In detail' should not be confused with 'specific' here, as Werring did not announce any new products.
Rather, the Polar CEO spoke at length about finding new possibilities for measuring parameters that are already found in Polar smartwatches. These conceivably include not only headsets, such as the Sennheiser Momentum Sport earbuds, but also smart rings.
Indeed, it was not possible for Werring to outline a product roadmap due to reasons of confidentiality. However, Werring did point out that Polar does not neccessarily have to release new products under its own name, but could instead act as a supplier for certain sensors and the corresponding software substructure, like in the case of Casio.
Lastly, Werring also indicated that Polar currently has no AI algorithms for performance evaluation, but this does not that mean that Polar is not open to the possibility of developing such technologies. Indeed, AI will become part of data interpretation in the future, but rather as a complement to current methods.
