Ringo (Pro): New smart ring available at an even lower price, also comes with body fat measurement and ECG
The market for smart rings has grown considerably in recent months, and many manufacturers are now attempting to woo customers with cheaper models. The Ringo and Ringo Pro are such smart rings, which are currently being financed as part of a Kickstarter campaign.
The two Ringo and Ringo Pro models do not differ in their fundamental design, but the Pro version comes with additional measuring systems. For example, only the Pro version can produce electrocardiograms and is said to be able to measure hydration levels. The analysis of body fat percentage is also reserved for the more expensive Pro variant, which is specified as 2.5 instead of 2.1 millimeters thick and, at 6.6 grams, over 2 grams heavier than the standard version.
Both model variants are said to be able to measure heart rate, heart rate variability, oxygen saturation and body temperature, as well as the quality and duration of sleep. The rings, which are partially made of stainless steel, are reportedly durable and offer a battery life of up to seven days. The manufacturer claims that the rings are waterproof up to a test pressure of 5 ATM, which would make them suitable for swimming.
Further measurement functions are promised, such as those for exertion and fitness levels. As part of the Kickstarter campaign, supporters can currently order the basic version, which does not include an ECG, for around $179. Delivery is not scheduled until June 2024. The usual financial risks for crowdfunding campaigns apply.
