While the landscape of Windows laptops is filled with exciting products with OLED displays, mechanical keyboards, and high-performance components, not everyone needs a decked-out machine that costs north of $1000. If you are one such customer who requires a cheap Windows notebook for daily use, take a look at the ASUS Vivobook Go 14 which is now going for only $279.99 at Best Buy, a $170 discount on the list price (via slickdeals).
According to Honey’s price history tool, the discounted Vivobook Go 14 price is a 120-day low.
Spec-wise, the ASUS Vivobook Go 14 on sale features a Ryzen 3 7320U Zen 2 CPU with 4 cores and 8 threads, 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 256 GB of expandable storage. While it is a bummer that the RAM is soldered, the PCIe Gen 3 drive can be replaced for fairly cheap. (Get a Silicon Power 1 TB PCIe Gen 3 drive for only $61 on Amazon).
Moving on to the performance, the Ryzen 3 7320U CPU, which is based on the old Zen 2 architecture, should handle routine tasks like editing documents and web browsing fairly well.
Around the front, the ASUS Vivobook Go 14 features a 14-inch FHD TN panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 60 Hz refresh rate, 250 nits of brightness, and 45% coverage of the NTSC gamut. While the limited colorspace coverage is a bummer, it is to be expected based on the price point.
Despite being a budget device, the ASUS Vivobook Go 14 brings a nice port selection. Users can find two USB Type-A ports, one Type-C port, a single HDMI 1.4 connector, a 3.5 mm combo jack, and a DC-in. Finally, the laptop also packs a 42 Wh battery and a chicklet-style keyboard without any backlit.
All in all, the ASUS Vivobook Go 14 seems like a solid choice for users who are on an extremely tight budget.
