Xiaomi Smart Band 9 still on track to launch, according to new leaks
The Xiaomi Smart Band 8 has officially been on the market for just over a year now, with no sign of a successor on the way. Then again, the wearable's series is due an upgrade soon after all, as it has allegedly been spotted in the hands of more regulators worldwide ahead of its launch.
The typically sub-$50 Xiaomi Smart Band 8 launched with the standard elongated, skinny AMOLED fitness tracker display type (albeit with a more novel range of accessories that can convert it into a smart pendant or even a smart shoe-clip) 1 year and 1 day ago today (April 19, 2024). Nevertheless, the OEM has yet to even start teasing a next-gen Smart Band 9 at this point.
However, it is definitely on the way - according to some of the latest rumors, at least. It is thought to have 2 variants (possibly differentiated on the basis of NFC support as usual), although only 1 of them has just re-appeared as a novel Xiaomi device on the regulatory circuit.
The Xiaomi "Smart Band 9", or M2345B1, has now been acknowledged as an actual member of its series this time by both the United Arab Emirates' TDRA and Indonesian Telecom, thereby suggesting that it will indeed join the vanilla 8 and newer, improved 8 Pro on the market soon.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
