Samsung's new Galaxy S24 Ultra has had its fair share of complaints but it appears battery life will not be one of those. The S24 Ultra, along with a selection of other premium phones, has now been put through a battery drain test, with the Samsung flagship performing excellently, albeit with one caveat.
As tested by Tech Droider, the Galaxy S24 Ultra appears to deliver the best battery life of all the tested Android devices, with a runtime of 10h58m. It's second overall, however, as the iPhone 15 Pro Max comes in first with a runtime of 11h21m.
The OnePlus 12 finished third at 10h46m, the OnePlus 12R followed at 10h37m, and then the Xiaomi 14 Pro at 10h21m. It's important to point out the fact that the Galaxy S24 Ultra outperforms the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R despite having a smaller 5000 mAh battery versus their 5400 mAh and 5500 mAh units respectively.
Unsurprisingly, the Pixel 8 Pro and its 5050 mAh come in last and by quite some distance, with a runtime of 8h37m. Thanks to its older, less efficient manufacturing process and architecture, the Tensor G3 fails to keep up.
While the Galaxy S24 Ultra puts up a great showing by lasting longer than its Android peers, for some reason it also runs the hottest, recording a temperature of 44.3 °C. The Xiaomi 14 Pro was the only other device to cross the 40 °C mark, with even the iPhone 15 Pro Max—notorious for its poor thermals—clocking in at just 37.1 °C.
