Leak suggests Crucial T705 PCIe Gen 5 SSD series will bring fastest read and write speeds
Crucial was one of the first to bring PCIe 5 SSDs to the market, the T700 series (available in Amazon), which offered a sequential read speed of up to 12.4 GB/s. But the T700 range is no longer among the fastest drives, as we now have PCIe Gen 5 SSDs delivering up to 14 GB/s of read speed.
However, it seems Crucial is about to take the crown with the launch of the T705 SSD range. According to the latest leak, the upcoming Crucial PCIe 5 SSDs will pack the Micron B58R Fortis Flash TLC NAND tech and offer up to 14.5 GB/s of read speed.
But it’s not just the sequential reading speed that will supposedly get a boost. The leak also suggests that the write speed of the Crucial T705 PCIe Gen 5 SSD range is up to 12.7 GB/s. To compare, the two fastest SSDs that recently launched, the MSI Spatium M580 Frozr and Sabrent Rocket 5, can provide up to 12 GB/s of sequential write speed.
It should be noted that not all the capacities within the series will match these reported read and write speeds. The leak indicates that it’s only the 2 TB SSD that will be breaking the current records (2 TB Corsair Gen 5 SSD curr. $259.99 on Amazon).
On that note, the leak has also pointed out that the new Crucial T700 PCIe 5 series will have a 4 TB variant, which is pretty rare to see, especially at launch. There will be a 1 TB capacity option as well. Check out the leaked specification sheet attached below to learn more.
