DXP480T Plus: New network storage for flash memory
The DXP480T Plus is a new network storage device that relies entirely on potentially extremely high-performance flash memory and is also relatively compact. Network connection speeds are said to be very fast - anything else would be a major bottleneck.

Ugreen is entering the network storage market with the DXP480T Plus, a model without classic network slots. Neither 3.5- nor 2.5-inch hard drives or SSDs can be mounted; instead, only M.2 slots are available. Accordingly, four M.2 SSDs can be installed, which are generally also particularly high-performance. According to the manufacturer, these storage media can also be used in various RAID arrays, including RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6 and RAID 10. The DXP480T Plus is connected via Ethernet with a data transfer rate of 10 Gbit/ s, which means that a transfer rate of 1.25 gigabytes per second is possible in the best case scenario as long as the appropriate network infrastructure is available. Two Thunderbolt 4 ports are also on board, which should also enable particularly fast data transfer. A USB 3.2 Gen 2 port is also installed at the rear, conceivably allowing for the connection of a conventional hard drive.

An Intel Core i5 processor, namely the 10-core Intel Core i5-1235U, is installed and promises decent processing capabilities, and the range of functions of the network storage device can also be expanded considerably via corresponding apps. 8 GB of DDR5 RAM is preinstalled; the DXP480T Plus can utilize a maximum of 64 GB of RAM. The UGOS Pro operating system is installed on a 128 GB SSD.

The official asking price is $780, but the network storage device will be available for $480 as part of a Kickstarter campaign starting in March.
