This mini PC model is a particularly interesting piece of hardware as it is among the first to come with an OCulink connector. Minisforum includes an M.2 PCIe 4.0 X4 - OCulink adapter that needs to be set up by the user. With it, one could benefit from double the Thunderbolt 4 speeds for some external devices. Level1Techs tested this mini PC and it turns out that the OCulink can actually be almost 3x faster for storage devices (2.8 GB/s on Thunderbolt 4 vs 8 GB/s on OCulink). If the Radeon 780M iGPU does not prove enough, users can also connect external GPUs through the OCulink port, which may offer up to ~60% more bandwidth compared to TB4.

At the heart of this mini PC is the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS mobile APU with 8 Zen 4 cores and a new AI accelerator cluster. Besides the OCulink connector, the robust port includes 2x USB4 (PD mode), 4x USB-A 3.2 Gen 2, DP and HDMI 2.1 video outs, dual 2.5 GbE jacks and a combo audio jack.

Level1Techs put the UM780 XTX through the paces and it looks like the DDR5-5600 RAM needs a bit of fiddling to enable lower latencies, while the 1 TB Kingston SSD recorded 4.7 GB/s sequential reads and 3.8 GB/s sequential writes.
