New Philips Hue Lightguide smart bulbs rumored to be on the way
Rumors indicate that Signify is about to relaunch its Lightguide smart bulb series. Three US E26 and EU E27 bulbs in the range—the Ellipse, Globe, and Triangular models — were unveiled in 2022. While the Lightguide Ellipse can still be purchased today, the other two versions were quickly pulled due to “an aesthetic inconsistency,” with Signify suggesting that they would launch at a later date.
Now, five Philips Hue Lightguide smart home products have been spotted by Hueblog.com in listings at an unnamed online store in Italy. These include the Ellipse, Globe and Triangular models from the initial launch, alongside two new bulbs. These other models are thought to be the Globe G95 and Edison ST70 smart bulbs, which were spotted in FCC documentation in 2023. These two bulbs are smaller than the first three, with a 7 cm (~2.8 inch) diameter for the Edison ST70 and a 9.5 cm (~3.7 inch) diameter for the Globe G95; by comparison, the standard Globe Lightguide bulb measured 12.5 cm (~4.9 inch) around its widest point.
According to the report, the Philips Hue Lightguide Globe and Lightguide Triangular smart bulbs have the same RRP as the Ellipse, which sells for $89.99/€88.99. Meanwhile, the Philips Hue Lightguide Globe G95 and Lightguide Edison ST70 are listed at €78.90. When the models will officially launch remains to be seen.
