Xiaomi announces new M30 S robot vacuum with hair cutting tool
The Xiaomi Mijia M30 S is a new robot vacuum and mop now available to pre-order in China. The latest model is similar to the M30 Pro, launched in January. Both robot vacuums use LDS navigation with a 110° wide-angle camera and S-Cross AI technology for obstacle avoidance.
The M30 S has a higher maximum suction power of 7,300 Pa, mops at up to 180 rpm and, according to Xiaomi, is particularly good at reaching the edges of a room with 99% coverage. The new model is suited to an area of up to 700 m² (~7,500 ft²) and comes with a self-cleaning docking station offering up to 75 days of hands-free cleaning. On docking, the onboard dust and dirty water compartments are emptied, and the mop is washed with 60°C (~140°F) water and dried with warm air. You can control the robot via the Xiaomi app or with Xiao AI voice commands, just as with other Xiaomi devices.
Like the M30 Pro, the M30 S has an anti-tangle hair-cutting solution, though this is a less sophisticated system. Other downgrades for the new model appear to be a lack of AI dirt recognition and night vision tools provided by the Pro model. You can pre-order the Xiaomi Mijia M30 S in China for 3,699 yuan (~$500). Whether the new robot vacuum and mop will launch in other regions like North America or Europe remains to be seen.
