Husqvarna Automower 520 EPOS new robot lawn mower with GPS launches
Husqvarna has launched a new robot lawn mower, the Automower 520 EPOS, in Europe. The product, designed for professional use, is similar to the earlier 520 model. The latest mower adds the EPOS satellite-based navigation system, meaning physical boundary wires are not needed. However, the product page notes that an EPOS RS5 Reference Station accessory is required, available to purchase separately.
The Automower 520 EPOS is suited to lawns around 5,000 m² (~53,800 ft²/ 1.2 acre) in size and can tackle inclines up to 45% (24°). Features include support for Husqvarna Fleet Services, allowing app or PC-based remote controls, such as appDrive steering, and enabling you to adjust multiple units simultaneously. You can also use the app to view the GPS location of the device, and an alarm sound can be used to deter thieves.
Warning lights help others see the mower when it is working at darker times of day, and a weather timer ensures the robot optimizes its schedule based on the conditions. Other features include OTA updates, pattern mowing, and a patented cutting height adjustment system. You can buy the Husqvarna Automower 520 EPOS for £3,799/€3,999. The EPOS RS5 Reference Station retails for £899/€999. Whether or when the new commercial robot lawn mower will launch in other markets like North America remains unclear.
