The IKEA Home smart app has recently been updated, adding the upcoming BADRING water leakage sensor. Version 1.25.0, available for iOS and Android, allows customers to add the product to their smart home, triggering notifications and linking to other gadgets. However, the BADRING has yet to be released and is due to go on sale in April.

IKEA has updated its Home smart app to version 1.25.0, bringing support for a new product: the BADRING water leakage sensor. The device was unveiled alongside the VALLHORN and PARASOLL smart home sensors last year and is expected to go on sale this April.

The changelog for the IKEA app update suggests that the gadget is compact and can be used in various locations around your home, such as in the bathroom or under the kitchen sink. Users will be able to receive app notifications on their phone if a leak is detected. Plus, you can trigger connected smart lights and sounds via speakers for additional alerts. It is worth noting that, to activate these features, you must connect the BADRING to a DIRIGERA hub. An FAQ page on the IKEA UK site also suggests that, for those who do not own a DIRIGERA hub, the sensor will emit its own warning sound if it detects water.

The price of the IKEA BADRING water leakage sensor has yet to be announced. However, when the product was revealed, the company said all its new sensors would retail for under €15. You can download the IKEA Home smart app version 1.25.0 for iOS and Android from the relevant stores.
