IKEA has officially unveiled the PARASOLL, VALLHORN and BADRING smart home sensors in the UK, Sweden and Germany. The VALLHORN and PARASOLL were found in an FCC filing earlier this year and confirmed in a leaked press release in October alongside the BADRING.
The IKEA PARASOLL Door and Window Sensor is designed to be mounted on windows and doors, notifying you in case of an intruder, or if they are accidentally left open. The company has added that the sensor could be used alongside a smart light, turning it on or off when the door is opened or closed. The VALLHORN Wireless Motion Sensor can activate lights with various color and brightness settings. IKEA has now revealed that this gadget will be suitable for indoor and outdoor use and can trigger up to ten lights simultaneously. The BADRING Water Leakage Sensor alerts you to a leak using its built-in alarm or an alert on your phone.
The new intelligent sensors use Zigbee technology and must be connected to the DIRIGERA hub to be remotely controlled via the IKEA Home smart app or linked with other smart home products. The PARASOLL and VALLHORN sensors will arrive in the UK, Sweden and Germany in January for €9.99 (~£8.70/114 SEK). The BADRING will launch in April, with the price yet to be confirmed; IKEA states each model costs less than €15, suggesting the water leak sensor will be priced between €10 and €15.
